Dear Friends:

I work for a City Health Department and in that capacity, enjoy giving
information away as I am paid to educate. (I love my job!)

I protect the copyright of pictures by transforming the PowerPoints into
.pdf or by printing them, 6 slides to a page. I give all participants in my
classes copies of all the slides in hard copy. When I send copies of my
presentations to other agencies, I transform them into .pdfs for the agency
to copy. If I post a presentation on a website or listserve, I will take the
pictures out, to protect copyright.

As the essence of me is in my live presentation, having the slides is a
memory refresher for the participants. I don't see how another person could
use my slides themselves and have it be any good.

I put citations and credits on the slides, and am happy to give that
information away also. No one owns breastfeeding, and what with the internet
and all, the material is mostly available to anyone willing to spend the
time. I feel that we all have to help each other as much as possible,
because we are up against a multi-billion dollar industry seeking to
undermine everything we do.

If anyone wants to plagarize my work, they take a risk because I am
fallible.

This is my own opinion and I accept that others will feel and act
differently.

warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, BSN, MS, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CCE, CIMI
