Norma suggests some lovely limitations of the training, overisght and
expectations of a CBC credential as it might be administered by IBLCE.

But here's the rub.

ONLY the folks who decide to go to the time and expense of getting this
new-fangled second credential will fall under IBLCE jurisidiction .... and
whatever discipline or complaint process that IBLCE sets up for monitoring
their CBC holders.

So all of the people, with all of the certificates-of-completion, for having
taken a two- or three- or five-day course offered by some other entity,
still do NOT come under IBLCE jursidiction. (Kind of the way that folks who
are falsely claiming to be IBCLC cannot have a complaint filed against them
at IBLCE. IBLCE can only discipline legitimate IBCLCs. Ah, sweet irony).

And ALL of this gets us no closer to clarifying, for the fatigued mother who
is searching the Internet for help, the difference in roles and scopes of
practice for the various helpers out there. She *currently* can choose
(here in the USA) between: IBCLC, CLC, CLS, CLE, WIC PC, "peer counselor",
LLLL, "nursing mothers' counselor", "lactation consultant", "breastfeeding
helper" -- and probably many more I have yet to discover. Do you think
Tired Mom knows the difference?
