I do agree with Gloria about the "dead mother" pose :-( I think most women
would get themselves into a semi reclining pose, however I gathered they
were waiting for the placenta in this case.
I do think most women would instinctively "help" the baby, but it is
fascinating to see what a baby can do all on her own, which is what most of
the "breast crawl" videos show. They show baby is competent! I like Baby
led-mother sped(when and where appropriate) philosophy .
I read a novel many, many years ago (like maybe 40-wish I could remember
title :-( where a woman was left alone on an island in Alaska, accidently.
She had a bad fall and was quite laid up, delivered baby while inconscious
and woke to find infant latched on, baby still attached to expelled
placenta! She went ahead and breastfed quite nicely and was rescued in the
spring with her healthy baby.
