They just don't know how to handle it. The want to make sexy bras to sell to lactating women but are afraid to show a sexy lactating woman for fear it will seem "deviant." They think cutting off the head with its facial expression relieves them of this problem.

Our society is just so odd about lactation. On the same mothering forum in which the coffee shop story was told there was another, recent thread about a fountain in Italy where the water sprays out of the woman's nipples. They gave a link to a cute, cropped photo of the woman from the breasts up. I did a google search so that I could see the whole fountain (there are actually four spraying women at the base of Neptune) and learn its proper name and I came across a few sites discussing the fountain. One was a site for photographers and the comments were what I would call "normal" such as "Ha! That's something many mothers can relate to!" Another site, though, was a tourist blog where the man couldn't really believe that he was seeing such wonderful "porn" right there in public, "I love Europe!" he proclaimed.

We have enough strange people like that tourist to make VS nervous about their marketing.
