  Good luck to you, you are entering a great profession and we need as many good lactation consultants as possible.
  I did Vergie Hughes course in DC and then counted the hours that I spent helping moms in my job as an OB nurse in a small hospital ( much the same number of deliveries as yours) I also tagged along behind a wonderful pair of LCs in a nearby, much larger hospital one day a week. I learned a lot from these ladies.
  I would advise you to find a friendly LC to mentor you - even if you have to travel two hours to do it.
