Karleen, thank you for the article. I have promoting infant feeding as a priority in hurricane planning for a few years now in my area of the hurricane belt. 

Sadly, until there is widespread coverage of a similar incident in "our backyard", people will continue to see that as a "third world problem."

Does anyone know if there have been any documented cases following crises in the US such as Katrina aftermath ( which would have been such a likely candidate) ?
