That *is* a great opportunity! I have long wondered why insurance
companies don't seem to take breastfeeding seriously.

Being businesspeople, perhaps these HMO heads would be interested in
the research on how working mothers' breastfeeding affects their
employers' bottom line. Even folks who don't care about maternal or
infant reasons to breastfeed can get on board with mothers missing
less work to care for sick babies. For example, this study:
<http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=10160049&dopt=Abstract>
Am J Health Promot. 1995 Nov-Dec;10(2):148-53. "Comparison of
maternal absenteeism and infant illness rates among breast-feeding
and formula-feeding women in two corporations."

It is 10 years old but I am sure there are similar, more recent
studies out there (just haven't had to do that search for awhile).
The results are compelling though.

You already have a great list of online resources. Wish I could be a
fly on the wall for this meeting!

Good luck!
