Kika -- congratulations on passing the IBLCE exam! Isn't is wonderful to go
to a conference, and find a bunch of excited lactation advocates wanting to
share their enthusiasm?

Might I suggest that you and your colleagues establish an ILCA affiliate? It
could be for the geographical region of Spain, or (as you suggest) for those
who are Spanish-speaking.

ILCA is the *professional organization* for IBCLCs ... and is designed to
provide the very sort of support activities you describe. The "umbrella"
organization of ILCA gives its affiliates all sorts of nifty benefits.

Forming an affiliate gives you and your colleagues an opportunity to network
much more frequently than at the ILCA annual conference. In today's
electronic age, much of your "connecting" can even be done over the
Internet. It will, indeed, boost the professionalism -- real and perceived
-- of the IBCLCs and other lactation advocates in your area.

Surf the ILCA website (www.ilca.org) to get details about forming an
affiliate. (And then have everyone join or re-up with ILCA, through the
affiliate, for a 10% group discount!)

-- Liz Brooks, JD, IBCLC, proud to serve on ILCA's Board of Directors, and
grateful to her local ILCA affiliate PRO-LC for always providing a rich
learning, networking and sharing venue for lactation advocates.
