Moms, kids have play date with Kohl Museum

The new $18 million Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview is big--about twice
the size of the old one in Wilmette. It has a lot more parking. And it's cool
to look at--its dramatic pitched roof resembles mountains.
But is it any fun? Museum staff say it is, touting the new facility as
"moved and improved," a guaranteed kid-pleaser with exhibits for babies to
8-year-olds plus thoughtful family-friendly amenities, like nursing stations, aimed
at making the experience as stress-free for parents as possible....
Hit: Nursing alcoves
Our moms noticed, and raved about, the nursing alcoves, with their cheerful
yellow-cushioned benches, tucked into many of the exhibit areas. Although
only semi-private (there are no curtains or doors to completely conceal nursing
moms), the alcoves provide quiet spots to breast-feed babies. "It's a little
open, but it's nice to have it," said Jones as her 7-week-old daughter,
Bonnie, slept in a stroller nearby.
