I look forward to answers on this question, it is something I am
constantly dealing with in our maternity unit. Today, for example, a baby
who was 3.4kg at birth, D3 had lost just 34g more than ten percent, and
weighed exactly the same today D5. All well otherwise with mum and bub,
Drs insisting she comp with formula every 3 hours and stay in another two
days for a reweigh. I questioned the influence of IV fluids on birthweight
(mum had three litres during labour) and was pooh poohed - would love to
get hold of some evidence to push my argument. Margaret
