Please don't generalize re: OB/Gyns. Our family missed a lot of "dad" time because of my husband's call schedule and the hours babies decided to arrive. My husband often came home frustrated because women insisted on early epidurals, inductions, and other interventions. He hardly needed to talk them into a lot of this stuff, and he generally had an impossible time talking them out of it. Even the OBs I know who are more apathetic, spending more time on the golf course or at home does not seem to be the common motivating factor. Having more control meaning less likelihood of a malpractice suit is a much higher motivator. And if a high number of OBs are willing perform an operative delivery upon request vs. medical reason, it is going to be hell to resist the pressure for those who don't want to do so...
