I recommend that all adoptive moms who need to supplement routinely add
acidophilus/bifidus to the supplement. I had great results with it with my
kids and found it was helpful for avoiding GI problems, as well as thrush.
It has a soothing effect on mucosa, in general, so I would not be surprized
if it would help with secondary lactase deficiency, by helping eliminate the
inflammation. One good formulation is Primadophilus for Children. It is a
powder that dissolves completely, and only a tiny bit is required, so there
would be many options for giving it to the baby, like mixed with a little
water or EBM in a spoon or eye dropper, putting a little powder on the end
of a parent's finger, etc..
