Anne--

Here in the U.S. there a small, but ever growing group of
women who support mothers who have just given birth.

Postpartum doulas support the mom in her home on a daily
basis for approximately two weeks or more (multiples)from
breastfeed education/support, baby's first bath, baby care
education, grocery shopping, meal preparation, laundry, etc!
I am still receiving phone call from a couple of past clients re:
parenting issues (toilet training, teething, continuation
of co--sleeping, etc.)

Our culture is ever changing--mother's are away from their own
mothers; or as is the current trend--first time moms are older and
their own mom are too frail/ill to assist in "mothering the mother"

I consider this career as my vocation. It is an honor to play
such an important and very often intimate support role for these
mothers. And if need be, will often lower my fees to support a family
in need.
