In a sense, doesn't the effect of prolactin on ovulation-related glands/hormones impose a pseudo-(peri)menopause? During early months of full breastfeeding, women usually don't ovulate, some complain of vag dryness, and/or some experience night sweats and/or some hot flashes, etc. I've known some perimenopausal MOT who experienced degrees of difficulty getting pregnant but usually not lactating...

I checked on posttubal ligation syndrome via Medline. There is little recent research on it. No research report popped up dated after 1992! The theory is that some TL methods/procedures may affect the ovaries via affecting blood flow through the ovarian artery. However, there's apparently not enough data to support the theory. (Yet there's also NO new research.) Some symptoms are also thought to be related to pre-TL menstrual issues and/or going off oral contraception; one's more natural menstrual cycle was sometimes thought to be post-TL symptomatic vs. normal compared to OC-imposed menstrual cycle.

I had a TL (ring procedure) at 40 and it had no effect on my cycle at all; it had a very positive effect on my state of mind! Hit perimenopause, etc. around 50ish/WNL.
