Unless completely out of context, no matter how one slices the grammatics, it doesn't sound as if "marriage" connotes a partnership of equals to this group. Obviously we can't know what kind of punishment the husband would dole out, but we also don't know if there are any parameters re: punishment as there is in "stranger" law within our countries. Personally, I'll take my chances on something that is spelled out better. And when reading the entire news story, another scary aspect was that the mother was "ordered" by her husband to BF while driving vs. stopping to feed the baby...
