Christine writes: "No matter your opinion of the war the consequences are real
and affect our daily lives here"...
No truer words were ever written and I'm sure many of us will be thinking of
your friend in the days to come.
Because for every combatant there is a whole network of civilians who care for
that person, in addition to all the local civilians who are at the mercy of
the combatants, I would ask the following:
Please also keep in your thoughts the thousands of women and children waiting
for the humanitarian aid to arrive in Basra, the second largest city in Iraq,
which has been without water and electricity for several days, and where
breastfeeding will be the only thing to be able to save the children in any
case.
It's easier to think of a single person, and I don't believe one can measure
suffering or place a relative value on it. They all need our thoughts and for
those who can pray, our prayers. War is a bad deal all around.
