If I am absolutely compelled to use the term "extended" breastfeeding, I
ALWAYS place "extended" in quotes and give an explanation that this term
reflects our cultural biases, etc. I like "sustained breastfeeding" better,
which has more positive implications than "prolonged" or "extended." But
how about this catchy, rolls-right-off-the-tongue wording:
perfectly-normal-and-healthy-breastfeeding-from-all
biological-and-psychological-standpoints-that-lasts-longer-than-a-cultur
e's-norm? Or if you insist on a shorter expression, how about:
breastfeeding?
