I would like to add to Chris's comments about the AIDS epidemic being a huge
"cash cow" for drug/formula companies.  One only need to look at many of the
studies on hiv/aids to notice that funding is often by the pharmaceutical
companies (of which formula companies are part and parcel of).  US government
studies are just as worrisome because of the influence the drug/formula
companies have within the government. (visit the NIH and  a few of those
sites have drug advertisements).

One must also consider that particularly at this conference there is much
debate about whether hiv causes aids.  One might assume by only reading the
popular press that this is not open to debate.  I'd encourage anyone who is
interested to look at a rebuttal to the Durban Declaration
