I don't have the research for this, but Minnesota WIC does not test
hemoglobin in infants until they are 9 months, the usual schedule for
checking things is every six months.  Infants are tested at 9 months and I
have been told for many years that hemoglobin tests are not reliable on
infants until 7 or 8 months.
