This sort of stuff is maddening:

<She had previously treated
her symptoms of irritability with evening primrose oil. She found this
to be very successful for herself but has been told by the local health
food store to not take epo while breastfeeding. Is there any information
pro or con on epo while nursing?>

EPO is an excellent source of essential fatty acids and their more complex
metabolites (GLA) - regarded as "safe when used appropriately" by the
Botanical Safety Handbook. EPO is derived from Oenothera biennis seeds and is
an excellent source of GLA ( gamma linoleic acid). "Heroic" doses ( i.e.
overdose) of essential fatty acids have been known to provoke gall bladder
attacks.

I wonder about but have absolutely no solid evidence to back up an idea that
repeated plugged ducts/mastitis conditions may be helped by adding food
sources of essential fatty acid derivatives, such as EPO, fish oils, etc.
Anyone observe this?
