I am familiar with this study. I'm pretty sure Major Hochhausen has
submitted this study for publication. The study hit home for me as I am a
former Army nurse who combined active duty service and BF with multiple
barriers, even working in a hospital. Several patterns were identified
after analyzing interviews with 25 plus self selected active duty women who
stopped BF before they planned. Conflicts of duty to country and duty to
your family, mixed messages from HCPs, and being unprepared and alone in
their new roles as mothers, especially the gung-ho, career soldiers. Many
of the issues are applicable to anyone juggling a job, and a BF baby. If
you would like to contact Major Hochhausen, please e-mail me privately and
I can get you her e-mail address as she is very interested in sharing her
study with the BF community, specifically those of us work with military
families.
