<< As a nursing student fresh from the trenches of the Maternal/Newborn
semester of a VERY well respected ADN program, I learned next to nothing
about breastfeeding. The things that were covered were full of half
truths as well as blatantly wrong information >>

My daughter Jill will graduate (finally) from nursing school (BSN) next
Saturday -- Praise the Lord! She, and the three classes before her all got
excellent instruction in breastfeeding 'cuz the school gave me two hours to
teach the students. The MCH book they used was abysmal in the information it
gave. The students after Jill's OB experience get 5 weeks for OB, 5 weeks
for peds, and bf is hardly mentioned. No time. Give me a break. These kids
aren't going to know squat about how to really help a mom, and they will then
learn poor information from the RNs and pediatricians that they work with
should they ultimately go into OB. It's very sad.
