I once went into see a mother nursing her 5th baby, who was having severe
nipple pain. I watched her latch the baby on, then asked how long she had
nursed her 4th. Almost 2 years was her answer and I immediately knew the
problem--she was latching him on like a toddler! Kind of letting him do it
himself with little support of his body, no support of her breast. When we
talked about newborn nursing she, too, realized how to easily correct the
problem
