props she had brought and delivered the material without the videos.

Hello all,
Oh wow I remember that mouth prop she made, with the different strings
under the tongue representing different tie locations...:) It's not easy when
local healthcare providers don't support moms with evaluating or treating
all but the most anterior of ties (while we also have local IBCLCs who do not
believe they make any functional difference or can be safely treated
either.) Still, our role is to give the best information available and provide
support. I do keep a short list of moms that I've worked with in mind who
are willing to talk mom to mom with a new mom considering something they may
need extra support with in their decision-making like posterior tongue tie
release and/or bodywork. Sometimes it makes a difference, other times moms
continued to insist that CST is too risky because babies "have been killed
by it," or that a posterior tie release will lead to "the baby bleeding out
or choking during sleep." No one could help these moms understand
anything differently. Still, when we strongly suspect that we have offered the
most up-to-date, thorough assessment, watched with experienced eyes and
minds what happens at feedings and over time, done all we could do, shared the
best studies and clinical perspectives, and provided support, then we are
done.

Peace,
Judy
