We have always worn business casual plus lab coat for inpatient and
outpatient IBCLCs. However, a few years ago the lactation department was
approved for scrubs. Our department scrub color is purple so we are not
confused with any other department. An individual LC can choose. I enjoy
wearing scrubs with my lab coat while others in the department may wear
street clothes with lab coat. I think the main thing is identification. Our work
is typically not that messy.
