Regarding the doctor who plans to write a case report in order to spread the
word about the positive effect shown by donor milk in a child whose original
food supply was lost (due to practitioner ignorance? I can't remember),
Barbara should contact the physician in question to let him know that it is
fine with her if he uses her report to him in his case report, and she can
supply him with the references to go with it, preferably insisting he
include in his report HOW he got on the track of this revolutionary idea of
using human milk in a human child. Namely, that a top-flight IBCLC did some
good groundwork, and here, dear readers, is what she presented me with.
Barbara should act as though she is simply saving him the trouble of looking
up her number or her e-mail in order to get in touch and ask her permission
to use the material. She should take it TOTALLY for granted that he will
cite her by name. Anything else is theft and if Barbara discovers that it
has been published, she should bring any plagiarism to the attention of the
editor of the publication. This means she should have a dated hard copy of
what she wrote, in a safe place, to use as proof that the words are hers.
