Loss of pigmentation is an effect of the candidiasis. If the yeast makes 
it down to the pigmented layer of the skin, it destroys the 
pigmentation.  This usually heals and repigments with time.  This 
circular loss of pigmentation around the base of the nipple is different 
than the gradual lightening of the entire areola that many moms 
experience after birth.
