LOOKING FOR COLLABORATORS FOR LATINO SCIENCE OUTREACH IN LOS ANGELES  AREA 
 
The Self-Reliance Foundation has developed Celebra la Ciencia, a project  
combining media and outreach to increase the involvement of Latino children and  
families in informal science.  
 
We are interested in additional partner organizations -- science museums,  
children's museums, or other organizations -- who would like to be part of the  
CLC coalition in the Los Angeles area.
 
For the past three years, the LA CLC coalition has created a large science  
area as part of several community events.
 
The next CLC event in the LA area is a festival held in honor of Cesar  
Chavez on Sunday, April 3 in the San Fernando area.  Several museums, the  Jet 
Propulsion Lab, and UCLA have already agreed to provide science exhibits,  
activities, and/or demos.  We have agreements from several major media  outlets -- TV 
and radio -- to feature participating organizations on their  morning news 
programs.  We will also be distributing Spanish-language radio  PSA's and press 
releases to publicize the event.  Modest funding is  available to help defray 
expenses for consumable supplies.
