Not an absolute, in fact far from it. Depends on the chemical. Trapping
I can go along with but there is a big difference between mechanical
trapping (usually on the surface) and absorption. More like dust on a
table than water in a paper towel.

Honey is more likely to have chemicals than wax. More of it and it is
more in contact with them. Even then chemicals may not be absorbed.
