I took CC Miller's suggestion to heart and put 1x2 cleats across the ends
of my boxes. Much easier to lift than hand holes and the weight can be
spread across the length of the forearms. As with the screen door handles,
the cleats prevent boxes from nesting tightly on a truck if that matters.
If the cleats are flush with the top edge of the box, the box above can be
safely tilted up for a quick inspection without having to slide it inward
on the box below.
