According to Mariano Higes it is not the total number of spores rather the
percentaje of infected bees in a colony what causes the colapse. He
recomends something similar to what Allen talks; take a couple of (smaller)
samples per colony.

I also understand that in the case of Nceranae you can find spores in the
pollen loads, what could be a way of transmition.
