re: Fipronil & Beehives

Some new beekeepers with whom I correspond follow BEE-L quite regularly and
will surely have some questions on the topic of Fipronil in hives.

What's the recommended frequency for putting these sorts of treatments in
the hive?
One might assume that since the bees won't be eating the Fipronil, the
Veterinary Feed Directive is not applicable, right?
Finally, what's the best source of Fipronil? Grinding cat collars into a
powder is tedious and the termite powder containers seem to be volume
overkill for the hobbyist beekeeper.

Looking forward to some guidance on this topic.
