my experience with the small hive beetle SHB, having lost a hive or two,
indicates too that the more bees ie stronger hive is the best weapon.
the other prongs of the beetle life cycle need attention.
killing the pupae in the ground  can only help too

what is the overall experience with the new SHB trap - a screened bottom
board with tray of oil below. the beetles and the larvae fall through the
screen into the oil and done.
