strong colonies  from May-August could easily reach over 70,000 to 180,000 foraging flights per day!


= 125,000 average. If each bee made 12.5 trips per day, that's 10,000 bees, or about 3 pounds of bees. Which is the number of foragers that Koulichkov calculated as leaving a hive from 4:45am to 8:45am, when the weight began to rise. This number was also reached by summing the hourly weight changes and subtracting the weight gain at the end of the day.
