Not strictly about bees, but pertinent

In his classic book Mirage of Health, Rene Dubos (1959) contends that the
ultimate conquest of disease is illusory and that what constitutes health is
fundamentally humans adapting to their environments. Because environments
continually change, an inevitable amount of maladaptation results,
often manifested as disease. Since health consists of adaptation to changing
environments, the existence of something approaching a perfect state of
health is a mirage.
