"I am at the point now where taking a long 
eriod anti-histamine does pretty good to tackle a single sting."

I've heard it said that you get less of a reaction if you take an anti-histamine before getting stung, but don't know whether or not this is true. It might be in Prof Harry Riches' "Medical Aspects of Beekeeping" but I can't find my copy to check.
