I went to http://www.convertit.com/  and asked what 2.6 lines is in metres.

I got:

Conversion Result: 2.6 line = 5.50333333333333E-03 meter

Therefore, "the invariable dimensions of all the cells, that  ever were, or
ever will be made" is 5.5 mm.

I guess that settles it.

Except for the deviation.
