In Europe we have no need for esoteric discussion on what constitutes natural treatment. It is defined for us in the Directive on Organic Beekeeping.
“6.3(e)  formic acid, lactic acid, acetic acid and oxalic acid and the following substances: menthol, thymol, eucalyptol or camphor can be used in cases of infestation with Varroa jacobsoni.”
