Hi Allen,

I have been reading Bee-l for around 7 years and sideline or commercial
beekeeping for 5. I have found the "Informed discussion" aspect of this
list to be incredibly helpful. The contributors to this list stick
closely to a scientific mindset but with commercial experience, and this
is why Bee-l is the only beekeeping list that I read regularly. I would
not be where I am today with a beekeeping business if I had not been
reading this list since the beginning of my fascination with honey
bees. I try to contribute to the list occasionally when I have a
comment that might be helpful to someone.

I have been doubling my hive number every year for the last 5 years
(starting with 12 hives). I have taken halfway decent hives to almonds
every year. I have never used M or T to treat for mites. I am 26 and
have 250 hives now so I should have 2,000 by the time I am 29, assuming
I can find locations to put them all. We bought a house and my wife
quit her job last year, so I must be doing something right.

This coming season I will begin producing mated queens for sale, and I
plan to transition to mostly queen rearing (instead of mostly selling
honey) in the coming years.

Thank you to all of the regular contributors who make this list worth
reading!
