When I first started, the hive tool that I use was only available from Bee
Supply companies, either as a black, sometimes painted steel, or
stainless.

Then Home Depot, etc. started carrying the same tool in the paint
department - black, immediately available (when you lose a tool), and cheaper.

I've used these for years, keep some in my wood working shop, even use them
as pry bars for removing trim, etc.

I suspect that the same jobber makes them all - same size, configuration,
appearance. Even if they are a 'cheaper' steel, I've never had one break
or shatter. Bent a couple, but never break - and I've even pounded them in
with a hammer when using them for demolition (the thin blade gets under trim
 without causing as much damage.

So, Mike's warning may be applicable, but I've not had any problems. I do
sharpen the paint store ones before using.

Jerry
