Filling totes, drums, or tanks from a tanker is easy, and that way several small beekeepers can split a load and take advantage of the lower direct prices.  If well planned, and the correct terrain found in advance, gravity flow can even fill drums on a truck deck. Most tankers have pumps, though, and a co-operative driver who will start and stop the flow as needed.  Ask for extra hose and a pump, though when ordering, just in case...

When buying type 55 HFCS, which is very concentrated, we added clean (sterile) water amounting to 10% of the estimated volume of the container in advance of adding the HFCS.  That diluted the HFCS to where it was more liquid and also would not crystalize quickly.  Otherwise one cold night could make it creamy.  Simply adding the warm HFCS causes sufficient turbulence to mix well.
