<Follow-up question: I read somewhere that feeding syrup makes the bees
needing to poop, therefore increased flight activity. Is that correct?>

It's my understanding that syrup has fewer "impurities" and would be less
likely to make the bees have to poop than honey (some of which
causes dysentery in Winter in Northern Latitudes). Likely the observation
is that of robbing behavior making it look like the hive has increased
activity.  Just my 2c,
