One possibility is that something is aggravating this hive of bees.
Possibly
a skunk or possum.  There have been a lot of suggestions in the past few
days
on how to cope with skunks.  Could even be kids but would tend to doubt
that.
I have had some problems like this and when the bees quit getting
bothered
they settle back down.
