What a lot of information has emerged in the comments ..... nice to learn of different perspectives and experiences ...

"It is a little-known fact that bees ignore bare feet" ..... I shall mention that to my wife who was stung on her toe three days ago. I have bees wandering over my feet now and again but so far I have not been stung there.

Before opening this thread I had anticipated that people were much more formally dressed ..... wrong ...... sounds like everyone is as relaxed as I am ....

I have found that wearing reading glasses helps. I can see what I am doing and with bees wandering round on the top of frames I tend to look before I touch. I suspect that if I was wearing gloves I may be more inclined to get on with it.

I have been stung round my eye. No big deal but the swelling made my eye close for a couple of days. That was one occasion where I was taking a quick look without reading glasses..... At that time I really freaked out since after stinging me the bee got stuck under by eye lashes ..... gee ... do I remember that .....

Getting stung on the ear is the most severe for me since when it happens my tongue swells up shortly afterwards ..... but it does not happen often so I keep the veil in store ....
