Your experience mirrors mine. Plus, the only evidence I had was that the
local bees did more poorly than from away. Some of the best bees i ever had
were from California, a far cry from Maine and our climate.

It is very easy, in this age, to claim success when others cannot inspect
your apiaries and see the truth. In just about every case when someone I
know as competent to observe has visited those apiaries they have come back
with something very different from the claims.

I know of someone who has written two books on beekeeping, sells bees and
has yet to overwinter one hive successfully. Obviously, reading books is
not always the answer.
