Malcolm,
 
   I learned from both the literature and from personal experience that
pure glucose does not appeal to honey bees.  Perhaps wasps would go for it.
 
   For wasp baits, I just lace canned shrimp/tuna cat food with Knox-Out
(microencapsulated diazinon).  It works best if you first get the wasps
into a feeding frenzy on fresh meat.
