On a somewhat related note, I heard this story about a bee research project on NPR - its purpose to discover whether or not bees could understand the concept of zero.

https://www.npr.org/2018/06/07/617863467/math-bee-honeybees-seem-to-understand-the-notion-of-zero

https://www.sciencenews.org/article/bees-join-exclusive-crew-animals-get-concept-zero

This has to be one of the ultimate "junk" science experiments I've ever read about. The absurdity of whether the bees "understand" zero in any way relatable to abstract thought processes is one thing, but they're ignoring all the perceptual and "interpretive" capabilities of bees re their environment that we barely understand, and what makes them so fascinating. "Not like us", indeed!
