Could local climate/ siting of hives have an effect on whether Nosema 
causes a problem or not?  If bees need to defacate but are unable to 
leave the hive to do so, they will ease their bowels in situ.  Their 
sisters, who typically do house cleaning before they feed the babies, 
will clean up the mess and thus pass on the 'spores' to the next 
generation.  Is there a noticeable increase in Nosema when colonies are 
transported long distances for pollination contracts?  They must be 
shut up and stressed for quite a while then.
