Further on the Evans and Spivak observation about the benefits of new comb:

Jeremy Rose commented: "I have been doubling my hive number every year for
the last 5 years (starting with 12 hives). I have taken halfway decent
hives to almonds every year. I have never used M or T to treat for mites.
I am 26 and have 250 hives now so I should have 2,000 by the time I am 29,
assuming I can find locations to put them all. We bought a house and my
wife quit her job last year, so I must be doing something right."

He sure is doing something right. So far, he's got half of this hives in
NEW COMB every year.
