I've heard that tracking wild bees back to their hive can be made easier
with flour.  Set out a saucer of syrup or honey with a sprinkling of baking
flour on the honey and the edge of the saucer.  The bees pick up some flour
on their bodies making them easier to see, especially in darker areas
amongst trees.  I've never used the method but can see how the beeline
could be more visible.
